There is no limit to the amount of HP Permanents can have.
If you also control "Enchanted forest" you may choose the order in which your forests apply their effects at the beginning of the turn. So this Permanent can gain 2 HP before dealing damage.
If you or another Permanent you control is about to receive damage from the opponent. You may decide that this Permanent takes the damage instead.
Yes, you may also redirect damage from another Permanent with the "Protector" keyword. Trees are nice like that.
