What is the principle behind the deck, and why play it?

  • The deck revolves around the Dog, its passive ability, and Permanents that alter Animals. This deck works with Enchanted Wings, which may not be the most effective in this configuration, but shows that a deck can take different forms.
  • Activate Air spells, which the deck is full of, to regenerate the Dog and use its active ability, which deals damage to your opponent.
  • Discover Animals and interactions with them, both through the versatile comfort of Adaptation and the usefulness and dangerousness of Fiery Breath.

Why the Dog?

  • It inflicts damage on the opponent.
  • It doesn’t lose the tempo of spells that exhaust it.
  • A flying dog!

What cards could be suggested? For once… almost all of them.

  • Defense: Sublimation, Stunning Thunder if Intimidation were to be included in this deck.
  • Damage: Robe of the Howler is a must-have in Air. Gigantic Size could be terrifying for your opponent. Tornado to turn to classic spells. Ritual of the Void could be an alternative to Aerial Ritual. Wand of Air Currents as both a draw and offensive equipment.
  • Draw: Flash of Inspiration paired with Brilliant Inspiration, or Acceleration on its own.
  • Utility: Intimidation coupled with Lightning Reflexes to hinder your opponent.

I’ll let you be the judge after testing the archetype. You might even pull out Enchanted Wings to consider Cosmic Wisdom and thus shift more towards Time than Breath/Wind. Or Animal Recall to chain together Last Breaths!
